- If you have flexibility in your travel plans, please try to avoid visiting on July 13 and August 2, as we expect those days to be exceptionally busy. Remember, we're on Central Daylight Time!.
- If you visit on a Sunday or weekday in June, you'll be able to enjoy all of our rides, shows, and attractions (including Splashin' Safari Water Park) and encounter the smallest crowds and shortest waiting times of the season.
- During July and August, we have smaller crowds and shorter waiting times on most Sundays plus weekdays than on Saturdays.
- In general, Mondays through Fridays are the least busy days to visit.
- We have smaller crowds and shorter waiting times on operating weekends in May, September, and October (please note that we are closed to the public several weekends in September) than we do on weekends during June, July, or August.
- Memorial Day Weekend, Father's Day and Labor Day Monday are not especially busy at Holiday World & Splashin' Safari and are great days to visit. (Honest!)
- At Holiday World & Splashin' Safari, we take ride safety seriously. Violating ride safety rules, especially failing to remain safely seated with restraints in place at all times, may result in serious injury. If you violate ride safety rules, you will be ejected from our parks, and prohibited from returning for a period of time as determined by the nature of the violation.
- Please discuss ahead of time what to do if your family becomes separated during your visit. Plan a meeting place, such as the fountain in the Christmas section or the Lost Parents station across from Monsoon Lagoon in Splashin' Safari. Be sure to note what your children are wearing, in case you need to describe your child to the Lost Parents attendant. Make sure your children can do the same about you. Children should know to ask a uniformed park employee for help if lost. If you are visiting with children too young to memorize your cell phone number, please be sure to get them Phone Find wristbands.
- The wait times for Holiday World's major rides (especially The Raven, The Legend, and Frightful Falls) in the Halloween Section are the longest shortly after opening time. Usually, the waits for these rides are much shorter by mid-afternoon.
- In the morning, the wait times for rides and attractions in the Fourth of July Section (especially Eagle's Flight, Revolution, and Holidog's FunTown) and in the Thanksgiving section are much shorter than elsewhere in Holiday World.
- Holidog's FunTown is a great spot for families with younger children. As it is located at the far end of the 4th of July Section, past the Freedom Train, and somewhat hidden by trees, many families miss it during their visit. It is relatively quiet both early and late in the day.
- Visit Splashin' Safari before lunch, when it's not as busy.
- When is the best time to eat? Try eating earlier than most; for shorter waits—try a light meal at 10:00 - 11:30 am CDT and then dinner at 3:00 - 6:00 pm CDT. Snack locations (ice cream, pretzels, etc.) are least busy from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm CDT and busier in the evening. The Funnel Cake Factories are busiest close to the end of the park day.
- Save time by buying your Next Day tickets when you purchase your first day's tickets, rather than waiting until just before you leave.
- Games are the least busy before 3:00 pm CDT.
- Be sure to pick up a Show Schedule and Park Map when you arrive. The shows performed earlier in the day are usually the least crowded.
- Please don't wait until just before closing time to ride your favorite ride one last time. The lines at the more popular rides may close early so that everyone already in line gets to ride before (or shortly after) the park closes.
- Review this list of Rules & Services before your visit.
