Families and group members wearing HoliWatches will be able to locate each other, leave messages, and retrieve a variety of information about the parks throughout their visit. HOLIWATCH USES: To use the free HoliWatch system, groups and families will go to one of two HoliWatch Stations to sign out their HoliWatches for the day. Each guest in the group will receive a wristband with a locator. The "group" locators will be tied together electronically so that any member of the group may "swipe" his or her HoliWatch at one of ten HoliWatch InfoCenters and find the most recent location of each specific group member. The HoliWatches are water-proof and are for use in both parks. The HoliWatch InfoCenter screens will also provide information about the parks, including ride locations and directions, show times and locations, height limits, rules and services, weather information, plus restaurant menus and locations. In addition, the HoliWatch InfoCenters will serve as message centers. Users may send messages to one or all members of their group from the kiosks. A light on the HoliWatch will flash briefly, signaling the user should go to an InfoCenter to retrieve the message. INFOCENTERS: There will be ten HoliWatch InfoCenters located throughout Holiday World & Splashin' Safari. TECHNOLOGY: The HoliWatch system uses radio frequency identification (RFID) technology. INVESTMENT: The HoliWatch system will cost $1 million. This is part of the park's $8.4 million capital project for 2009, which is the second-largest expansion in the park's 63-year history.
