The theme is "cool" for 2013!

As you may have noticed, the summer of 2012 was one of the hottest on record.

We sure noticed.

So, from looking around the parks to see where the longest lines were, where the bottlenecks occured, plus listening to your many comments and suggestions, here's a countdown list of how we're spending $6.5 million for next season:

10. Happy Halloween Weekends expand to six weekends, starting in mid-September

9. New entry plaza for Splashin' Safari plus 16 more cabanas

8. New after-dark light show for summer nights

7. Misters and fans, plus more shade and seating throughout both parks

6. Kitty's Tea Party - a classic tea-cup family ride in Holidog's FunTown

5. Pilgrims Plunge "moving" to Splashin' Safari with a new name: Giraffica

RhinoBlaster!1. Hyena Falls! Four new in-the-dark water slides, ranging from 300- to 350-feet long and with drops up to 50 feet! One of the slides includes a really cool half-pipe feature near the base of the drop. Have a blast on these fast, dark, double-inner tube slides!

We've set up a ConstructionCam on the side of Pilgrims Plunge ... er, Giraffica ... so you can watch construction of Hyena Falls. This northeast portion of the park, by the way, will be the future site of expansion for both parks. Stay tuned as we add incredible new rides to both parks in years to come!

Will Giraffica still be accessible from the Thanksgiving section? We have always looked forward to riding Pilgrim's Plunge on our "dry" day at the park.

Yes, it will still be accessible from the Thanksgiving section.

I think that sounds all great except the whole giraffica theme I would just stay with pilgrims plunge

Any more details about the new waterpark entrance plaza? Also how will Pilgrims Plunge building be re-themed?

We'll post details as we get them in the coming months - promise!

Just a quick question... Are they also going to finally get the timberliner trains for the voyage... Can't wait

Testing should begin soon.

With this new expansion, what does this mean for the customers price wise? Is Holiday World still going to be affordable for the average Joe?

Our one-day ticket prices will not increase in 2013.

Our family would REALLY love to see some speed slides and more intense water slides.

Will any of the cabanas be near the splash land area for little kids? If not, that would be a great place for cabanas because those of us with little children sure could us a place for naps, resting time, shade, etc - all those things you would rent a cabana for!

Several cabanas will be located between Wildebeest and Mammoth - we'll update the cabana information here on our website in the coming months once we've mapped out where each cluster of cabanas will go. Thank you!

Since the Happy Halloween weekends start mid-September next year, will the regular season pass holders be able to get in with their pass, or will they need to get seperate tickets or a "Halloween upgrade"?

In 2013, Season Passes will include all days we're open to the public from May through the end of October.

With our family camping alot at Lake Rudolph we always say it would be nice to have a entrance into the water park from the camp grounds. Would this be a possible idea ? thanks,

We've talked about it - but unfortunately, there are a lot of logistical considerations to creating a second entrance to the park. So, for now anyway, there isn't a plan to do this, sorry.

When will u guys be adding more non water rides into the park? Would love to see some new roller coasters, maybe a steel coaster? :)

Sure! Please check the last paragraph of this blog post. Lots more in store in future years!

I hope that with Happy Halloween Weekends starting earlier, that doesn't mean those of us with season passes get cut off even earlier.

Amy - Season Passes in 2013 are valid on all days we're open to the public from May through the end of October. Thanks!
